The Intersection of Climate Change and Human Health

I’ve been interested in the intersection of climate change and healthcare for some time. So I reached out to my friend Jason Jacobs from the podcast My Climate Journey to see if he’d want to co-host an episode that’s at the junction of our podcasts.

This episode is our collaborative interview with Dr. Darragh O'Carroll, a science communicator and emergency physician specializing in emergency, disaster, climate, and COVID-19 medicine. He's making a documentary series called "Infected planet" to illustrate how climate change is affecting global and public health, and highlight the solutions.

Topics covered:

  • The increase in climate disasters - flooding, hurricanes, fires, extreme heat, air quality, etc. - and how it impacts human health

  • Whose health is impacted the most by climate change

  • The impact of the healthcare industry on climate

  • Adaptation vs mitigation

  • The one thing you can do to help the climate
